| | Library of Congress Awards Paul Simon very first Gershwin Award | | Last night on PBS a star studded two hour musical extravaganza aired. The United States Library of Congress gave Paul Simon it's first ever Gershwin Award for his contributions to popular music.
The special was a two hour tribute to Paul Simon's nearly half-century musical career and had some of the greatest musicians from many genres performing his songs.
I watched this special and loved every minute of it, especially the performances by Ladysmith black mambazo and when Art Garfunkel came out to do Bridge Over Troubled Water with Paul Simon.

| | Do you vote in city elections? | | April 17 is election day here in Carbondale for city council and mayor. I'm really torn. The current mayor has done a pretty good job and is definitely very active in making the city a better place to live. His opponent is a great person and also likely to be a great mayor. To be hoenst, I have no overwhelming preference except that the challenger seems to be a bit more ethically driven than the incumbent, possibly becuase she's Paul Simon's daughter.
How do you choose between two good candidates, knowing that there are so many offices with no good candidates? | |

I read this 2006 political article on Gov Blagojevich,he run in 2006 for reelection even tho he was under a cloud of suspected corruption,President-Elect Obama backed him in his 2006 governors race along with David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel,all of these guy's have been paling around together in the political world of Chicago for some year's.
It strike me as odd in regard to the pay for play political games the Gov of Illinois was just a few day's ago busted on,finding Jessy Jackson Jr was being looked at in 2006 as a black man that possibly would fill Barack Obama's United States senate seat.
Seems to me the Gov,Rahm Emanuel,David Axelrod have been planning with Mr Obama for some time to get Barack Obama in to the white house.
