Talk about the rock music that you love here!
The Avett Brothers
This is a band I have grown to love from the town Concord, NC, right outside of Charlotte. They have a unique sound, combining indie folk rock with bluegrass and a punk rock attitude. Recently they released their first major record, I and Love and You and have been on several popular late night programs. If you haven't already heard them, you should check them out and tell me what you think
What is the best music genre?
Music is one of the best gift we have in this world. It gives us the opportunity to express our feelings, our emotions, and share the real meaning of the song message. I remember one line from a song, "Let the music heal your soul" and another line "Let the music take control". This just means that music gives us inspiration. Back to the question, regarding the best music genre I consider, I think, it would be POP. Pop music has been the most appreciate by the ears of the public, oldies or youngsters. Pop is actually the result of the combinations of different music genres, from Classical to Folk, Rock to Alternative, and eventually, emerged the RnB. I therefore can say that POP is my best music genre. Since I am also a singer, not by profession but only singing as a hobby as of this moment, who knows one of these days I can be discovered by someone. I can sing but not as good as singers I have known. But a music is not just appreciated by oneself but must be shared to others and when heard, they can decide whether to reject or accept someone else`s talent. Guys, share your comments about your best music genre, What is your favorite type of music and give us your...

How much of a part of your life is music?

The Light Which a Heart Forgets - Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
I surely did not realize how much I loved The White Stripes, until It was revealed that another c.d. was to be released by them. My anticipation grew, like a little boy who is told that he is about to go to Disneyland. Giddiness I tell ya. I often have certain movies or music that I just cant wait to encounter. Yet, when I found an advertisement saying: Get Behind Me Satan the new album by The White Stripes, dude I was struck like a squirrel trying to steal a nut. I mean I truly got giddy. The Previous One The White Stripes' previous album Elephant, was as perfect as a current rock c.d. can be. It was filled with rock and roll, blues, folk, and everything else but the kitchen sink. It was Havotic at its best and as sweet as something somber can be. It was music that was almost universal loved and also received a Grammy nomination. Elephant - The White Stripes http://www.epinions.com/content_131339357828 I believe it was about a couple days after its release that my lovely wife purchased this c.d. as a gift.(She always knows exactly what to get me.) I was ecstatic, and finally I was to hear new White Stripes music. ( I own all four of their previous c.d.'s) Blue Orchid...
Spring Awakening- On Tour!
Has anyone else seen the tour of Spring Awakening yet?I saw it earlier this week in Providence, and was blown away. After seeing the Broadway production 7 times, I was worried it would get stale for me. I quickly learned that is IMPOSSIBLE with this particular cast. The touring cast is far better than the last Broadway cast I saw. They have such amazing chemistry, talent, and emotion. I've never seen so many tears on one stage in my life. The show itself is incredible, during it's Broadway run it earned 8 Tony Awards (including one for Best Musical!), a Grammy, and numerous other awards. It combines a classic coming-of-age story set in 1890s Germany, with an angsty-teen folk/rock score. All the music was composed by 1990s hitmaker Ducnan Sheik. So you can't go wrong. The show is in Providence all week, and then Boston for the next monnth. It's going to continue making its way down the east coast for the next couple months. I'm dying to know what others have thought of the show and this cast in particular.

The band America
I do really appreciate the music of America which I consider one of the best folk rock band of the 70's until the 80's. We attributed great hits such as "A Horse With No Name", the very classic and pleasant-listening "Ventura Highway", the ever golden hit "All My Life", "I Need You". America is one of the greatest hitmaker of the decade 70's and the 80's. I like so much listening to their music especially during my teenyears, they are among the top ten band I listen the most during my teenyears, next only to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Their music is very nice, very soothing to the ears, very relaxing to listen to. The band contributed substantially to the pop music of the 70's and 80's. How about you how do you like the band America?
I'm not a huge fan of folk music, thus I have some questions
If you are a fan of sixties folk rock (Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Cat Stevens, etc.), I need a hand in the right direction.I am looking for lyrics pertaining to feminine oppression and lyrics pertaining to corporate greed for a couple of points I'm trying to make in a paper I'm writing for a Humanities course. If you have knowledge of folk music, could you please be kind enough to point me in the right direction in the way of search terms? Thanks very much in advance, Shannon PS: I may be back asking for help in the area of Punk rock as well lol
